Bespoke jewellery is at the heart of what I offer. Creating unique, one-of-a-kind pieces to celebrate life's milestones. Be it an engagement, wedding, anniversary or a birthday, working with clients to create unique pieces that excite the wearer and harness their personality is a total joy. One of my true loves is remodelling heirloom pieces into new contemporary designs, working with client’s treasured stones and jewellery to breathe new life and create heirlooms for future generations.

The Process

Most projects begin here at my studio in Shorditch, London. I like to meet with my clients for a 45-minute consultation where I can discuss the project they have in mind and get an understanding of what materials are to be used and what stones need to be sourced. Whether it’s a repurposing project, or creating a unique engagement ring, it’s always lovely working together to create something beautiful. (If a client doesn’t live locally or is unable to travel in, then it is always great to arrange a phone call or Zoom meeting.)

Design

This is one of my favourite parts of the process. Once I have an idea of what the client wants to be made, I usually then go and source a selection of stones and materials so that I can provide a few options for them to choose from. If I am repurposing a client’s preloved jewellery, I’ll begin by sketching out a few designs incorporating the metal and gemstones ready to present to them at a second meeting. Designs can also be received via post or email if clients aren’t local to my studio.

Making

Once a final design is selected the making process can begin. The stones are removed from their settings and the metal is melted down ready to be reworked. If I am making a piece from scratch I’ll sometimes begin by making a mock-up in wax or silver, depending on the project. Most projects have a lead time of around 6-8 weeks.

“I have always been inspired by the earth’s mystery and the enigmatic power of nature, and I love using texture, mixed metals and granulation to create tiny moments that encapsulate drama in a beautiful and exciting way.”

  • Quality Craftsmanship

“Lousia's work is terrific - she made me a wedding ring and hit the brief, spot on. I wanted a simple, understated piece with the quality of craftsmanship that is difficult/impossible to find on the high street/online market. She has a great studio to visit with a good selection of pieces to help you decide on what you want. Excellent communication throughout. I thoroughly recommend.”

  • New Treasures from Old

“I am more than delighted with the beautiful set of three stacking rings that Louisa has made for me. I took her a collection of bits and pieces that I knew I would never wear again and she turned them into exactly what I would have imagined. I love knowing that the gold and stones all have history whilst I now have a contemporary set that I will wear and wear. The whole process was simple and exciting, from our initial meeting to discuss the possibilities, through to the designing and provision of three hand-painted designs. I would highly recommend Louisa who is obviously very talented. Definitely a case of new treasures from old!”
